Leftover Salmon made their Grand Ole Opry debut when they performed on the storied program for the first time earlier this week. The band was joined by bluegrass icon and Opry member Del McCoury, and his bandmate, fiddler Jason Carter, for the final song of their premiere on the historic Nashville-based radio show.

Leftover Salmon’s Opry debut was not guitarist Vince Herman’s first time performing on the legendary Opry stage. Herman was recently recognized in the audience during Chris Janson’s Opry performance and was invited onstage to perform.

Herman and his Leftover Salmon bandmates began their three-song Opry set with “Down In A Hollow” from the jamgrass veterans’ 2004 self-titled album. The live staple was followed by the title track to the 2021 LoS studio album, Brand New Good Ole Days.

Del McCoury, who was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2003, then appeared on the stage he’s performed on many times. McCoury brought along the Del McCoury Band’s fiddler Jason Carter to accompany LoS on another album’s title track, 2014’s High Country.
