Achille Lauro Joins Laura Pausini For Debut ’16 De Marzo’ Performance In Mexico City

Laura Pausini resumed her Yo Canto World Tour on Saturday with a sold-out concert at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City. The Italian vocalist and songwriter brought out her countryman Achille Lauro halfway through the show to perform their “16 De Marzo” collaboration live.

Achille Lauro originally released “16 Marzo” in 2020. Laura Pausini covered the song with Lauro for her new covers album Yo Canto 2. The pair also recorded the Spanish version, “16 De Marzo,” which was released as a single one day before the Mexico City concert.

Lauro wasn’t the only special guest to drop in on Pausini’s concert. Spanish singer Ana Torroja teamed up with Pausini for a joint “Hijo de la luna” performance early in the evening. The song was originally put out in 1986 by Torroja’s former band, Mecano.

The rest of the night saw Laura Pausini perform a career-spanning collection of songs. Additionally, Pausini played a series of crowd-pleasing covers, including takes on Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ la Vida Loca,” Bad Bunny’s “TURiSTA” and Shakira’s “Antología.” There were also performances of songs by Mexican artists, namely versions of Joan Sebastian’s “Eso y Más” and Natalia Lafourcade’s “Hasta la Raíz.”

Laura Pausini now heads to Guadalajara for a Tuesday night concert. Pausini ends the Mexican portion of her Yo Canto World Tour on Thursday, May 7 in Monterrey.
