Lawrence began a run of dates supporting Lake Street Dive on Friday night at Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, Connecticut. The two bands teamed up for multiple songs during LSD’s headlining set.

“We first connected with Lawrence during a fateful US tour in 2017. We were in awe of their talent, energy, and camaraderie. And still are!” Lake Street Dive wrote ahead of the run on social media. The seven-show excursion was previewed by the recent release of The City Winery Sessions, a four-song collaborative EP.

Lawrence launched their set with “The Heartburn Song” from the band’s 2018 album, Living Room. The eight-piece outfit fronted by the brother-sister duo and Gracie Lawrence then turned to their latest LP, Family Business for “23.” The 2024 record was also represented in New Haven by “Guy I Used To Be,” “Death Of Me,” “Hip Replacement” and “Whatcha Want.”

Clyde Lawrence helmed a soulful take on The Beatles’ “Get Back” early in the night. Gracie’s dynamic vocals were later featured on Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” the only other cover Lawrence fit into their setlist. Lake Street Dive touring percussionist Nêgah Santos lent a hand on the set-closing “Whatcha Want.”

Lake Street Dive threw down a 22-song performance at Westville Music Bowl. The band foreshadowed what would come by opening with “Good Together,” the title track from their 2024 studio album. Seven additional Good Together cuts would follow by the end of the night.

Members of Lake Street Dive gathered around a single microphone towards the middle of their set. After covering the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” and performing the title track from 2016’s Side Pony, LSD frontwoman Rachael Price welcomed Clyde and Gracie Lawrence back to the stage.

Price explained Lake Street Dive released Good Together on the same day Lawrence issued Family Business and would join forces to play a song from each album. Clyde and Gracie gathered with the headliners around a single mic to perform the Good Together single “Help Myself.”

Lake Street Dive went back to their regular stage formation as the rest of Lawrence filed out. Clyde and Gracie led the collective bands through “Do,” a song featured on Lawrence’s Family Business album.

While the rest of Lake Street Dive’s set concluded sans guests, the Lawrence siblings did reemerge at the start of the encore to help sing the Hall & Oates classic “Rich Girl.” LSD then went it alone to wrap the concert with “Good Kisser.”
