Lady Gaga Performs ‘Joanne’ For 1st Time Since 2018

Lady Gaga‘s Mayhem Ball Tour hit Stockholm, Sweden for a three-night stand begining on Sunday. The concert on Monday at Avicii Arena saw the global superstar performing “Joanne” for the first time in seven years.

“Joanne” is the title track from Lady Gaga’s 2016 album. The song honors the singer-songwriter’s aunt, who died of lupus at age 19, before Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. She was named after her aunt, Joanne Stefani Germanotta.

In Stockholm on Monday, Gaga performed “Joanne” for the first time since 2018. She noted that during the Joanne World Tour, she had to cancel the stop in Stockholm.

“I always wondered how that would have been,” she said ahead of the song. “That I didn’t get to come here and play that music for you and share that time in my life with you. I feel really grateful that I’m able to come on tour and be with you all again. This is very special.”

Lady Gaga delivered “Joanne” solo on piano. She dedicated the song to her family and specifically her grandmother. Watch below:

Elsewhere in the concert, Lady Gaga delivered 14 of the 17 tracks on her new album Mayhem including “Abracadabra,” “Die With A Smile,” “The Dead Dance,” and “Shallow.” She also offered older favorites from her catalog such as “Poker Face,” “Just Dance,” “Bad Romance,” “Judas,” and “Paparazzi.”
