King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard brought their 2024 North American Tour to Milwaukee’s Miller High Life Theatre on Wednesday. The Australian rockers broke out “God Is Calling Me Back Home” for the first time in nine years.

King Gizzard kicked off the Milwaukee play with the Ominum Gatherum epic, “The Dripping Tap.” Multi-instrumentalist Ambrose Kenny-Smith fronted the band on the opening segment and nodded to the location by switching up a lyric to “times of our Milwaukee.”

After the 20-minute “Tap,” Gizz jumped into “Field of Vision,” off their latest album Flight b741. Staple “Hot Water” followed with guitarist Stu Mackenzie on flute. “Hot Water” flowed into another Flight b741 cut, “Raw Feel.”

KGLW then offered the biggest bust out of the tour so far, “God Is Calling Me Back Home.” King Gizzard last played the Float Along – Fill Your Lungs cut at Bonnaroo 2015 for a gap of 580 shows, as per KGLW.net.

“If you know this song, you rule,” Mackenzie said ahead of “God Is Calling Me Back Home.” Stu then led the band through the bluesy rocker for just the 13th time since its debut in 2013.

Multi-instrumentalist Cook Craig then stepped into the spotlight for “The Garden Goblin,” ahead of which the band congratulated him on his new Pipe-eye single, “Lords Of Lithium.”

Next, guitarist Joey Walker headed to the synth table for “Magenta Mountain” before bassist Lucas Harwood and Stu joined him for “Chang’e.” Everyone except drummer Michael Cavanagh was present at the synth table for “Extinction.”

Following the electronic segment, Gizz delivered a monster thrash sequence beginning with “Planet B,” “Converge” and “Witchcraft.” “Gaia” came next and boasted a drum solo from Cavs and the band fitting “Gila Monster” within “Gaia.”

KGLW then went microtonal to close the concert with “Billabong Valley,” “Honey,” “Sleep Drifter” and the crunchy “K.G.L.W.” outro to put an exclamation point on the concert.
