King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Deliver 10-Minute Metal Epic ‘Dragon’

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released a new single/video, “Dragon.” The track is set for the Australian rockers’ forthcoming album, PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation, due out on June 16 via the band’s KGLW label.

King Gizzard announced “heavy as fuck” new album PetroDragonic Apocalypse — the sonic extrapolation of 2019’s eco-thrash masterpiece Infest The Rats Nest — in early May. “Dragon” is the second released single off the new record following “Gila Monster.” The band has also been unveiling songs from the album live on their current North American tour including “Witchcraft,” “Supercell” and “Converge.”

KGLW has now released the 10-minute thrash opus, “Dragon,” the second single from PetroDragonic Apocalypse. “Ahh my sweet baby Dragon is here fresh out of hell’s womb, summoned by the humans at the end of their pitiful road,” drummer Michael “Cavs” Cavanagh said of the new single. “It’s hard, fast and here to disrupt the natural order and annihilate everything in its path, so turn it up Sammy!”

The band also teamed back up with frequent visual collaborator Jason Galea for the “Dragon” music video. “Over the last two months I dusted off my music video computer to slay the 10 minute ‘Dragon,’” Galea stated. “I wanted to explore a harsh distorted visual palette using my live visual setup mixed with PS1 cutscene inspired animation and studio footage I filmed of the band. The animation was created using Cinema 4D and processed through After Effects and a Tachyons circuit bent video unit.”
