King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard had gone over six months without announcing a new album, which is nearly a lifetime for the extremely prolific band. That period is now over as the band’s 24th album, full title PetroDragonic Apocalypse; Or, Dawn Of Eternal Night: An Annihilation Of Planet Earth And The Beginning Of Merciless Damnation, is on the way.
While a release date for PetroDragonic Apocalypse has yet to be revealed, pre-orders begin on May 16 via Gizzverse. The Australian rocker’s first LP of 2023 comes on the heels of three albums put out last October: Changes, Laminated Denim and Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms And Lava.

King Gizz recently described the vibe of their next album on Twitter. “The next gizz album is heavy as fuck,” wrote the band. Artwork for the LP from longtime collaborator Jason Galea would fit such “heavy as fuck” music. “It’s a vivid, fiery painting of a lizard like monster in an industrial, apocalyptic landscape,” noted King Gizz in the social shares announcing PetroDragonic Apocalypse; Or, Dawn Of Eternal Night: An Annihilation Of Planet Earth And The Beginning Of Merciless Damnation.
A new video is apparently imminent:
