Kelsey Waldon shared a cover of John Prine’s “Sam Stone” for Veterans Day benefitting women of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Waldon’s native Lexington, Kentucky. The track is set to land on Kelsey’s upcoming covers EP, They’ll Never Keep Us Down, set for release on November 20 via the Prine co-founded Oh Boy Records.

The politically-charged EP also includes covers like Nina Simone’s “Mississippi Goddamn,” the Neil Young-penned CSNY lament “Ohio” and more, along with John Prine’s “Sam Stone.” The Vietnam era anti-war anthem originally appears on the legendary singer-songwriter’s 1971 self-titled debut album.
