Justice Comes Alive Announces Virtual Music Festival Benefiting PLUS1 For Black Lives Fund

Virtual music festival Justice Comes Alive will take place Sunday, June 28 and feature performances by Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band, Lettuce, Tank and the Bangas, Stanley Jordan Umphrey’s McGee and many more. The daylong livestream event will benefit the PLUS1 For Black Lives Fund and organizations like Equal Justice Initiative, Impact Justice and The Bail Project, and other Black and Indigenous-led grassroots organizations combating racism. HeadCount is also a participating partner.

Other performers include BANDEMIC (John Scofield, John Medeski, Billy Martin and Jesse Murphy), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Christone “KINGFISH” Ingram, Eric Krasno, G. Love, Galactic, George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, Jennifer Hartswick with Nick Cassarino & Christian McBride, Marco Benevento, The Original Nth Power, Star Kitchen, TAUK and Turkuaz, among others. The event will be co-hosted by Nikki Glaspie of The Nth Power, Nigel Hall of Lettuce, Nigel Hall Jr. of Dumpstaphunk, James Casey of Trey Anastasio Band and Robert Sput Searight of Ghost-Note, along with SIRIUSXM’s Ari Fink.

Between performances, the co-hosts will lead discussions about “systemic racism, how to combat it, and what can be done to bring about these changes.” Among the participating speakers are Terence Blanchard, Oteil Burbridge, Christian McBride, Karl Denson, Patrice Rushen, George Porter Jr. and Ivan Neville. The event, promoted by Live For Live Music, follows the success of the similarly presented Quarantine Comes Alive livestream event that raised over $170K for the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.
