Journey & The Doobie Brothers Announce Tour With Dave Mason

Journey and the will pair up for the San Francisco Fest Tour in 2016. The lengthy North American Tour spans May to August and will feature special guest Dave Mason.

Journey will be joined by drummer Steve Smith for the excursion, marking the first time he will perform with the band since 1998. The current incarnation of Journey features Neal Schon (founding member and lead guitarist), original member Ross Valory (bass), and longtime members Jonathan Cain (keyboardist) and Arnel Pineda (lead singer) along with Smith. The Doobie Brothers will add longtime Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne to the mix for the tour. “It’s gonna be a great summer for fans of Bay Area music, and for guys like us who have the pleasure of teaming up with our good friends from Journey and the Dave Mason Band,” said Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons of The Doobie Brothers. “We look forward to taking the stage with Journey. We love their songs, and think we will all complement each other musically. It is going to be a powerful tour. We can’t wait to share it with the fans!”

The tour begins at Irvine Meadows in Irvine, California on May 12. From there, the bands head to the Southwest, Texas, Midwest and Southeast before a short break. A run focusing on the Northeast and Midwest starts in Bangor, Maine June 22. The tour ends in August with shows in the Mountain states and out west. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Saturday, December 5 at 10 a.m. local time.
