On Thursday evening Tedeschi Trucks Band opened a three night run at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre. The show began with an opening set from veteran guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, who later returned to sit-in with the headliners during their performance.
Guitarists Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi led their namesake collective through takes on “Let Me Get By,” “Don’t Drift Away,” “Color Of The Blues” which Susan recorded on John Prine’s latest album, Leonard Cohen’s “Bird On The Wire,” Taj Mahal’s “Leaving Trunk” and more. The set also saw the founding member of Jefferson Airplane and current Hot Tuna member Jorma Kaukonen emerge to play guitar on the blues classic “Key To The Highway.”
The collaboration and many other highlights, including the encore of David Bowie’s “It Ain’t Easy” and Joe Cocker’s “Space Captain,” were captured by Sean Roche. View his videos below:
Tonight TTB returns to the Orpheum for the second show of the run. Amy Ray will open.
