See Joni Mitchell Perform ‘A Case Of You’ With Brandi Carlile & Marcus Mumford ‘At Newport’

Joni Mitchell’s joyous return to the stage at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival is set for a live release on July 28 via Rhino Records. The latest preview of Joni Mitchell At Newport is a moving rendition of her beloved song “A Case Of You” featuring Brandi Carlile and Marcus Mumford.

Mitchell’s surprise set at Newport Folk last year marked her first public performance in 20 years, made all the more triumphant as Joni returned after suffering a life-threatening brain aneurysm in 2015. News of a live album, At Newport — produced by Mitchell and Carlile — arrived in May along with an emotional performance video of “Both Sides Now.”

The latest look At Newport is a single/video for the favorite “A Case Of You,” originally appearing on Joni’s landmark 1971 LP, Blue. Carlile would pay homage to Mitchell and the Blue with complete performances of the album in 2019 and 2021.

Surrounded by those she has influenced over the years including Wynonna Judd, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius, Celisse and more, Joni’s moving At Newport version of “Case Of You” saw Brandi dueting with the legendary singer-songwriter throughout with Marcus Mumford joining in on vocals. The audience hangs on Joni’s every brilliant turn of phrase.
