Guitarist John Mayer made a surprise appearance with The Nth Power guitarist Nick Cassarino at the Olive Tree just above the famed Comedy Cellar in New York City on Saturday night. Nick and John were also joined by comedian Sherrod Small and a horn section of Coleman Hughes and Max Boiko for portions of the performance.

Cassarino was performing Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” when Mayer sat down and joined in on the cover. Nick and John then traded licks on the blues standard “How Blue Can You Get (Downhearted).” Sherrod sat with the pair and watched them play throughout Mayer’s three-song appearance. For the finale, the guitarists gave an impassioned 10-minute performance of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” aided by the horns.
