John Bell, Mike Mills And Friends Play For Hannah
By Scott Bernstein Feb 24, 2014 • 11:20 am PST

According to our friends at The Barn Presents, the evening started with a performance by Nickel and the Polar Bears that featured sit-ins from Panic keyboardist JoJo Hermann and percussionist Sunny Ortiz before JB took the stage.
John Bell started his set with solo performances of “Blue Indian” and “Tickle The Truth.” Bell then welcomed JoJo and Sunny for a cover of Neil Young’s “Journey Through The Past,” “Blackout Blues” and “Chilly Water.” R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills then joined the fray for a series of songs that included “The World Is Spinning Against You” by Smiling Assassins and the R.E.M. classic “Don’t Go Back To Rockville.”

Later in the evening Widespread Panic manager Buck Williams joined in on harmonica for “Smokestack Lightning” and was one of many sharing the stage for “The Weight.” The Dirty Dozen Brass Band closed out the performance with a set that saw John Bell emerge for “Superstition.”
