Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Welcomes Oteil Burbridge In Florida

Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead performed yesterday at Fool’s Paradise with Dead & Company keyboardist Jeff Chimenti filling-in for Marco Benevento. JRAD’s set at St. Augustine Amphitheatre in St. Augustine, Florida featured a sit-in by Chimenti’s D&C band mate and the event’s artist-as-large Oteil Burbridge.

Regular JRAD members, drummer Joe Russo, guitarists Tom Hamilton and Scott Metzger and bassist Dave Dreiwitz, began their set by jamming with Chimenti into a rendition of “Good Lovin.” Toward the end of their appearance, the band expanded to Joe Russo’s Almost Dead & Company as Oteil joined in on bass for a seamless sequence that started with “Dancing In The Streets.” Burbridge also sat-in on “Brown Eyed Women” and “I Know You Rider,” while Dreiwitz shifted from auxiliary drumming and playing bass during the guest spot.
