In January of 2017, Jam Cruise 15 will host the first proper Duo set since 2010 from the Benevento Russo Duo featuring drummer Joe Russo and keyboardist Marco Benevento. Last month, the drummer started to rehearse for the gig and shared a video showing him practicing “Something For Rockets” off 2006’s Play Pause Stop. Today, Russo was back at it and unveiled clips of him putting together the samples for Duo classics “Soba” and “Becky.”
Joe Russo was featured in the August installment of The Art Of The Sit-In and shared the following about what lies ahead for The Duo, “We’re playing on Jam Cruise and that’s it right now. I’m so excited to play these songs again. I’m so excited to play with Marco again. We’ve tossed some some ideas back and forth as far as making some new Duo recordings. Maybe a Postal Service-y type of situation, where I’ll track some stuff at my place and he’ll do some at his and we’ keep sending things back and forth till we have a record. We’re not putting any pressure on this. We’re going to get together and play a show and feel it out. Needless to say, I’m really excited. I miss that music so much.”
