Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Celebration Adds All-Star Acoustic Band

As reported, Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado will host a special concert honoring the 75th birthday of late Grateful Dead frontman Jerry Garcia on August 4. The lineup for the tribute has been expanded with a five-piece put together for the event dubbed “The Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Acoustic Band.”

The Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Acoustic Band will feature two members from the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band lineup of 1987 and 1988: multi-instrumentalist Sandy Rothman and fiddler Kenny Kosek. Guitarist Anders Osborne will join the pair as will bassist Travis Book and banjo wiz Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters.

The concert will also feature performances from Bob Weir & The Campfire Band and a group dubbed “The Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Band.” Keyboardist Melvin Seals and vocalists Jackie LaBranch and Gloria Jones of the Jerry Garcia Band will be part of The Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Band along with bassist Oteil Burbridge, saxophonist Kamasi Washington, guitarist Tom Hamilton and drummer Duane Trucks.
