Jason Isbell & Sturgill Simpson Join Cast Of Martin Scorsese Film ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’

Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson have joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s upcoming feature film, Killers Of The Flower Moon. Osage News revealed the pair of singer-songwriters will appear in the movie that is an adaptation of David Grann’s book of the same name chronicling the 1920s murders of Osage Native Americans in Osage County, Oklahoma, known as the Reign of Terror.

The cast of the Apple Original Films production also stars Indigenous actors Tantoo Cardinal, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion and Cara Jade Myers. The cast also includes Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone.

The film will see Isbell portraying Bill Smith and Simpson filling the role of Henry Grammer. Osage News also announced that William Belleau, an Indigenous actor, will star as Henry Roan. and actor Louis Cancelmi will portray Kelsie Morrison. Deadline described the characters, stating:

“Belleau will play Henry Roan, an Osage rancher with close ties to DiCaprio’s [Ernest] Burkhart family. Cancelmi is Kelsie Morrison, a local hustler and friend of Burkhart. Isbell, who makes his acting debut in the film, plays Bill Smith, an adversary of Ernest Burkhart, while Sturgill Simpson joins as infamous rodeo champion and bootlegger Henry Grammer.”

Isbell made a cameo appearance as a background musician in the 2019 HBO film Deadwood. Simpson’s previous acting experience includes appearances in film and television. In 2018, Simpson acted in the CBS All Access series One Dollar and was part of the cast of the 2020 feature film, The Hunt.
