Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit contributed a cover of Metallica‘s “Sad But True” to The Metallica Blacklist, a compilation featuring over 50 artists reimagining songs from The Black Album in honor of the iconic Metallica LP’s 30th anniversary. The Metallica Blacklist is set for release on September 10 through Blackended Recordings.
Isbell and his band added a country and rollicking feel to “Sad But True,” a song St. Vincent also covered for The Metallica Blacklist as did Sam Fender, Mexican Institute Of Sound, Royal Blood, White Reaper and YB.
Proceeds from The Metallica Blacklist will be split between Metallica’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, and a charity picked by each contributing artist. Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit selected the Nashville Rescue Mission.
