Watch Jason Isbell Test Out Improved Falsetto On Solo Acoustic Bon Iver Cover

Jason Isbell recently took to Instagram to share a solo acoustic cover of Bon Iver‘s “Towers.” The song gave the Alabama native a chance to show off his falsetto which he says “got much more usable” after he got his teeth repaired.

“Strangely enough when I got the teeth fixed, my falsetto got much more usable,” Isbell explained in a caption accompanying a portion of his “Towers” cover posted on Instagram before the full video went up. “I’m working on it with the most falsetto-ass jams I can think of. This one is HARD but I do love it. [Bon Iver] thanks for giving us all such a fine song. And there’s a demodulation! Dude you’re unhinged.”

Isbell addressed the repair to his teeth on Twitter/X last month. “I had bone loss, severe infection and neuralgia, and without the repairs I wasn’t gonna be singing much longer,” explained Isbell. “Like I don’t know if I mentioned this in any songs or interviews or whatnot, but I’m a recovering alcoholic from Alabama. It should really make sense to everyone.”

Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon is known for his signature falsetto. “Towers” was originally issued on Bon Iver’s self-titled debut album in 2011.
