JamBase Update

By Team JamBase Nov 13, 2007 12:00 am PST

Hi Everyone,

We interrupt your regularly scheduled music Newswire to give you a brief update on some happenings here at JamBase HQ.

Last night, our web hosting company was hit by a power outage around 4:00 p.m. PST explained as: “a traffic accident caused damage to a power transformer which provides utility power to the Rackspace data center in Dallas, TX.” A series of events caused the cooling fan ‘chillers’ to not start up properly and they shut down our servers to avoid overheating for about two hours. Since you’re reading this, all systems are back to normal, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We’re looking into how to better handle situations like this in the future.

We also figured that now was as good of time as any to bring you up to speed on recent developments in the land of JamBase.

Since launching our newly revamped website in August, we’ve listened closely to your comments and suggestions and have been steadily making updates to the website, some obvious, others behind the scenes.

This past Friday we pushed up our latest release (v6.0.5) which included the homepage Show Finder, making it easier to do an expanded concert search right when you come to the site. We’ve also added Google Maps to the event info pages and re-enabled you to add shows to your Google and Outlook calendars. Additionally, we’ve also recently improved the speed of our show results pages, artist pages and some issues with adding shows to your MyJamBase calendar.

Looking ahead, we’ve got a long list of updates we’re excited to hit head on. We have got our hearts set on making MyJamBase even more functional, allow you to manage your concert calendar easier, connect with friends going to shows, reflect on your amazing experiences together and find the information that you’re looking for as quickly as possible.

On that note, we’ve formed a team of JamBasers (that’s you) who are interested in helping us improve our search results. Since there are a wide variety of possibilities when it comes to search, especially around live music, we need all the help we can get and are committed to improving things for your benefit. If you’d like to help us out, just send an email to bugs[at]jambase.com and we’ll invite you to participate. As always, if you’ve got any suggestions or feedback, feel free to fill out our main Contact Form, we’d like to hear you.

Thanks again for the wonderful feedback, suggestions and entertaining commentary as we continue to work together towards making JamBase the ultimate source for all your live music needs.

Rock on,
Andy Gadiel
