Jack White recently announced two new solo albums set for release in 2022. The last time Jack put out a solo LP, 2018’s Boarding House Reach, the singer-songwriter and guitarist took his amazing band on a landmark tour around the record which included a headlining stop at Lollapalooza on August 5 at Chicago’s Grant Park. The career-spanning set included solo material as well as favorites from his bands The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. In honor of White’s upcoming solo releases, JamBase takes a look at his 2018 Lollapalooza performance on his last solo tour for this week’s Full Show Friday.

White kicked off the concert with blistering performances of Boarding House Reach singles “Over And Over” and “Corporation.” Next, Jack picked up his acoustic guitar for The White Stripes’ “Hotel Yorba” before returning to electric for the Stripes heavy rocker “Cannon,” from their 1999 self-titled debut album. White then delivered a tune, “Sixteen Saltines,” from his previous solo album at the time, Blunderbuss, ahead of the Stripes’ “I’m Slowly Turning Into You” and Dead Weather’s “I Cut Like A Buffalo.”

Next, Jack slung on his acoustic guitar and told a sweet story about the last time he played Lollapalooza and his daughter Scarlett giving him a guitar pick before he went on stage. He then dedicated “We’re Going to Be Friends,” played with that very same pick, to Scarlett and her brother Henry. White returned to solo material with “Love Interruption” off Blunderbuss and BHR’s “Respect Commander.” The first Raconteurs tune of the set came in the form of “Steady As She Goes.” Two White Stripes songs followed beginning with the stellar and scathing “Icky Thump” followed by Jack solo acoustic on “You’ve Got Her In Your Pocket.”

BHR single “Connected By Love” then prefaced the Stripes’ “Catch Hell Blues” and Raconteurs’ “Broken Boy Soldier.” After Blunderbiss cut “Freedom At 21,” White dedicated the remainder of the set to White Stripes classics including the punk leaving early hit “Fell In Love With A Girl,” the bluesy “Ball And Biscuit” and the rousing anthem “Seven Nation Army.”
