Tipitina’s Reveals Outrageous Star-Studded Lineup For Irma Thomas Tribute Concert

Iconic vocalist Irma Thomas will be feted with A Tribute to the Queen – Irma Thomas, a star-studded concert that will be held at Tipitina’s in her hometown of New Orleans on Wednesday, November 27. George Porter Jr. will serve as musical director and lead the house band with special guests including Thomas, Galactic, Ani DiFranco, Marcia Ball and more.

Legendary bassist George Porter Jr. will be joined in the house band by David Torkanowsky, Kyle Roussel, Chris Adkins, Terrence Houston, Tony Dagradi, Brad Walker, Tracy Griffin, Jeff Albert and Phillip Manuel. Others besides the aforementioned musicians slated to sing Irma Thomas’ songs at Tip’s on November 27th will be Jelly Joseph, Erica Falls, Leyla McCalla, Joy Clark, Susan Cowsill, Gabrielle Cavassa, Sierra Green and Jolynda “Kiki” Chapman.

Tipitina’s and partner Sonny Schneidau tapped Gwen Thompkins (Music Inside Out) as the emcee for the night. Partial proceeds from the show will benefit the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic. The organization has been providing critical medical care and social services to Crescent City musicians, their families and cultural workers since 1998.

Ponchatoula, Louisana native Irma Thomas has spent the past seven decades wowing fans in New Orleans and beyond. Thomas is currently working with Galactic on an album entitled Audience With The Queen, due out in 2025. Galactic and Irma Thomas will preview the LP at the upcoming concert.
