Hosts Rob Turner and Seth Weiner were setup backstage at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Monday night to tape interviews from Hampton 70 performers for their Inside Out WTNS podcast. The program has released a tribute to Col. Bruce Hampton, who died after collapsing at the show in honor of his 70th birthday, which includes thoughts from Jeff Sipe, John Bell, Jon Fishman and Rev. Jeff Mosier recorded before the concert.

The pair start by talking about their experience at Hampton 70: A Celebration Of Col. Bruce Hampton and how joy turned to sorrow so quickly. Sipe first appears around the 15-minute mark and the Aquarium Rescue Unit drummer discusses the early days of the band. Jeff tells many stories about the Colonel and his incredible parlor tricks. Widespread Panic frontman John Bell chats with Rob and Seth starting at the 20-minute mark. JB recalls the night he met Col. Bruce, how he helped get ARU aboard the initial H.O.R.D.E. Tour and the reasoning behind the Widespread Panic > Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit full-band segues from that landmark run.

Jon Fishman is the next guest on the podcast as his portion of Inside Out WTNS begins at 33:15. The Phish drummer also talks about the night he met Col. Bruce and how he was introduced to ARU. Fish discusses how he always related to Bruce and that the pair hit it off over not taking themselves so seriously. He mentions how happy he was to meet Denny Walley at Hampton 70 and his prior meetings with his heroes. The drummer goes into detail about how Hampton has managed to maintain a level of excellence throughout his career.

The final interview of the podcast finds Rev. Jeff Mosier talking about Col. Bruce. Rev. Jeff explains the genesis of his name, how he learned what funk was through his early days in ARU and shares a few of the lessons Hampton taught him. Mosier went on to found Blueground Undergrass and said the band wouldn’t exist without the Colonel.
