Indigo Girls: Symphony Tour; Full-Band Summer Dates

INDIGO GIRLS ANNOUNCE SYMPHONY TOUR
AND ADD FULL-BAND DATES WITH THE SHADOWBOXERS

In a career first, Grammy-winning folk duo the Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, have announced their first-ever symphony tour, kicking off in Chattanooga, TN on July 28 and continuing in select markets through 2013 (scroll down for dates). For this tour, they’ve brought in musical arrangers Sean O’Loughlin (Chris Isaak, Feist, The Decemberists, Josh Ritter) and Stephen Barber (Rosanne Cash, Alejandro Escovedo, John Legend) to write orchestral charts for a selection of songs spanning their career, from the 1980s through their most recent release, Beauty Queen Sister, on IG Recordings/ Vanguard. Each performance will last roughly two hours with the orchestra, including an intermission, and then Ray and Saliers will perform one or two songs as a duo for their encore.

Indigo Girls have also announced a second leg to their summer tour with The Shadowboxers, who’ll be joining them onstage for full-band, electric versions of the Girls’ classic songs.
