Hiss Golden Messenger shared a pair of reworked songs featuring the Spacebomb House Band under the title, Let The Light Of The World Open Your Eyes (Alive At Spacebomb Studios). The collaboration resulted in new versions of the Terms Of Surrender track, “Cat’s Eye Blue” and the non-album single, “Standing In The Doorway.”
Recorded at Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia, Hiss Golden Messenger’s M.C. Taylor was accompanied by bassist Cameron Ralston, drummer Pinson Chanselle, guitarist Alan Parker, pianist Daniel Clarke and tenor/alto saxophonist Matt Douglas, plus a string section of violinists Adrian Pintea, Stacy Matthews, Meredith Riley and Treesa Gold, viola players Molly Sharp and Wayne Graham and cellists Jason McComb and Stephanie Barrett. Both tracks include backing vocals by Angelica Garcia and Kenneka Cook, with Erin Rae McKaskle also singing on “Cat’s Eye Blue.”

Taylor shared the below statement regarding the session:
Following a tour up and down the East Coast in the winter months of 2019, I joined the Spacebomb family in Richmond, VA, to record new interpretations of two Hiss favorites: “Cat’s Eye Blue” and “Standing in the Doorway.” Spacebomb specializes in a maximal rhythm that speaks to me both as a fan and maker of music. I’m always honored to create with them.
A physical version of the release will be issued as a Record Store Day drop on August 29. Check out the pair of tracks below:
