Mountain Jam 2016 Day Three :: 6.4.16 :: Hunter Mountain :: Hunter, NY
The 12th annual Mountain Jam festival held at Hunter Mountain in Hunter, New York continued Saturday with another full day and night of music. Host Warren Haynes filled in for Gary Clark Jr. whose appearance was canceled due to a family emergency. Haynes played an impromptu solo set to make up for Clark’s absence. Brooklyn’s Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds also were among those who rocked the main Mountain Stage Saturday. Los Angeles-based trio The Record Company and rising alt-rockers Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats also held down the main stage before headliner Beck delivered a career-spanning set. Along with hits such as “Loser” and “Where It’s At,” Beck also offered his cover of Prince’s “Raspberry Beret” and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”
The Mountain Jam Valley Stage was home to performances throughout the day by the likes of harpist Mikaela Davis, singer-songwriter Son Little and Americana group Houndmouth. Bay Area retro-soul outfit Con Brio and funk ensemble Lettuce also played the Valley Stage and both acts pulled double duty yesterday with second late night performances at Healey Brothers Hall. Also on the late night slate was Thievery Corporation who played a full band set that saw them offer their cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Fire On The Mountain.” Photographer Adam McCullough is at Hunter Mountain, below view his gallery from Saturday followed by audience-shot videos.
