The 2016 High Sierra Music Festival will be held at Plumas-Sierra Fairgrounds in Quincy, California on June 30 – July 3 and features headliners Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and Thievery Corporation. High Sierra organizers recently announced a pair of Artists-At-Large as well as this year’s Troubadour Sessions and Playshops.
Guitarists and High Sierra veterans Scott Law and Eric McFadden have been tapped as this year’s Artists-At-Large. Expect both musicians to “roam free” at High Sierra ’16 and play in a variety of formats. The event’s Troubadour Sessions feature talented songsmiths performing in an intimate late night setting. Festivalgoers can witness artists such as Gene Evaro Jr., Ry Cavanaugh, Law, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Luther Dickinson, McFadden, Papa Mali and Ross James play the festival’s Mineral Building each night in round robin fashion. Here’s a look at the Troubadour Lineup for 2016:

One of the many signature elements of High Sierra are Artist Playshops which provide festivalgoers opportunities to witness musicians in novel and often one-of-a-kind musical settings. Friday’s Playshops will include instructors Sean Leahy and Pamela Parker leading “Jam 101,” Steve Poltz presenting “Make Me Laugh, Make Me Cry” and members of The New Mastersounds, The Main Squeeze and Turkuaz combining forces for “Funkify Your Life.” Saturday’s Playshops include Anders Osborne and Luther Dickinson pairing up for “Southern Soul Songwriting,” The California Honeydrops and Friends celebrating the music of Allen Toussaint with “Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky” and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades leading “High Sierra Bluegrass Pick.” Sunday’s Playshops include Scott Pemberton hosting “Inside The Art Of Jamming,” saxophonist Skerik leading “Skerik’s Improv Lab” and High Sierra favorites Guitarmageddon presenting “Guitarmageddon Plays Clapton.” Head here for a full list of this year’s Artist Playshops.
Tickets for the festival are currently on sale in a variety options and can be purchased via HighSierraMusic.com. Late night concerts are separately ticketed events for which tickets are available through Eventbrite.
