Accomplished guitarist/vocalist Susan Tedeschi was born in Boston on this date in 1970. The co-leader of the Tedeschi Trucks Band with her husband Derek Trucks, Susan has carved out a career that sees her thrive in nearly any setting, whether leading an 11-piece ensemble, performing solo or joining one of the many collaborations she been asked to be part of. For her birthday today, here’s a look back at a special collaborative performance held at an event in Washington D.C. four years ago.

Back on February 21, 2012 current U.S. President Barack Obama hosted a Red White & Blues concert at the White House. The event featured legendary blues performers such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy and The Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger. Held to “honor the musical form that sprang from the Mississippi Delta and flourished in the Westside of Chicago with deep roots in Africa and slavery” Tedeschi also performed alongside Trucks and guitarist Warren Haynes. Accompanied by a house band featuring Hammond B3 master Booker T. Jones, the trio worked up an arrangement of “I’d Rather Go Blind,” which was a hit for Etta James.

Below is official video footage of Tedeschi, Trucks and Haynes performing in D.C. followed by bonus backstage footage shared from the event. Watch the pair of clips here:
