[UPDATED] Hangtown Music Festival 2016 To Feature Railroad Earth, MMW, Prince Tribute & More

The sixth annual Hangtown Music Festival, an event formerly known as Hangtown Halloween Ball, will take place at El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville, California October 20 – 23. Hosts Railroad Earth will play three nights of Hangtown ’16 and will be joined by an impressive array of acts from nearly every corner of the jam scene.

Medeski, Martin & Wood will follow a 25th anniversary celebration in New York City by heading out to Placerville for a performance at Hangtown. The Infamous Stringdusters, The Wood Brothers, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Boombox, Twiddle, TAUK and Dead Winter Carpenters are among the other acts set to play Hangtown Music Festival this October.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe will present a tribute to Prince including a full performance of The Purple One’s Dirty Mind featuring Angelo Moore from Fishbone. Guitarist Steve Kimock will be on hand with a band that includes Jeff Chimenti, Bobby Vega, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Leslie Mendelson and Wally Ingram. Speaking of “Lebo,” Hangtown will host the return of Incidental Animals a band that finds the guitarist joined by ALO mates Dave Brogan and Steve Adams along with SCI keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth and Trey Anastasio Band vocalist/trumpeter Jennifer Hartswick.
