Guster Unveils Inventive Pre-Order Scheme For New Album

By Scott Bernstein Jul 18, 2014 8:45 am PDT

Boston alt-jam act Guster have completed work on their next studio album. The band has teamed with Pledge Music to create a pre-order site with all sorts of “fantasy options” that fans can purchase in which they’ll get to do such things as give Ryan Miller a beard, skydive with Miller and Adam Gardner and meet up with Brian Rosenworcel for a karaoke party.

As per the pre-order site, Guster expects to release their first studio effort since 2010’s Easy Wonderful “early next year.” The new LP will be the band’s first independent release since 1997. Anyone who orders anything from the Pledge Music site will be added to their All Access Pass list where they’ll get first access to tracks, album commentaries, videos, tour dates, etc. In addition, those on the All Access Pass list will be eligible to win some of the “completely ridiculous prizes” they are giving away such as:

-The Guster Concert Ticket Passport (2 tickets for you to every Guster headlining show in 2015)

-Assistant Guitar Tech for the day at a Guster concert near you

-Autographed vinyl test pressing of the new record

-1 of every merch item in the Guster web store

-Never-again Guster bobble heads

-Two painted union suits from the “Do You Love Me” video

-Entire Guster studio album catalog transferred to cassette with a handwritten track list

-Autographed Taylor GS mini acoustic guitar

We’re fans of some of the “fantasy options” available for big spenders such as “Camp Guster” (Spend a day with Guster on the idyllic Maine seacoast), “NYC Twilight Bike Tour With Luke” (Guster’s Luke Reynolds takes you and a friend on a twilight bike tour through NYC), “Shit Your Pants With Guster” (You and a friend go skydiving with Ryan and Adam) and “Surf Lessons With Adam” (Surf lessons for you and a friend with Adam and certified surf instructor). There’s even a $150K option for “Guster Buys You A Tesla.”

All of the spendy options, as well as many that are more affordable, can be purchased through the pre-order site.
