Gregg Allman Says No Guests Including Dickey At Beacon

Tomorrow, The Allman Brothers Band begin a six-show residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City that are billed as the legendary group’s final performances. Earlier today our friends at Relix spoke with Gregg Allman who shared a bit of surprising news about the run.

“We held a meeting yesterday and we decided that there’s only six gigs left, and we’re going to play them ourselves. There will be no one sitting in,” Allman told Relix. The big question coming into the run was whether Dickey Betts would collaborate with his old mates. When Relix posed the question to Gregg he responded, “Dickey is in the middle of a hunting trip. Of course we reached out.”

With the way this year has gone for The Allman Brothers Band you never know what could happen at this upcoming set of shows. That said, we understand the group’s desire to celebrate its current lineup, the longest-running lineup in the band’s history, at the Beacon. The Allman Brothers Band take the stage at the Beacon Theatre on October 21, 22, 24, 25, 27 and 28.
