Greensky Bluegrass got their three-night camping event at Shagbark Farm in Caledonia, Michigan underway on Friday. The Michigan-born band would welcome opener Sierra Hull for a Phish song and more.

Greensky kicked off the first set with “Tied Down.” Besides the song referencing Michigan, the band also unveiled a slightly different arrangement for the occasion. “Tied Down” then led into the favorite “Kerosene.” The bluegrass standard “Old Home Place” — which was last played in January 2020, as per Phantasy Tour — followed ahead of “Do It Alone” from the band’s 2019 studio album, All For Money.

After “Living Over,” the quintet welcomed mandolinist Sierra Hull for the traditional “Working On A Building,” which saw Hull adding some stellar high harmonies. GSBG then delivered their debut of Phish’s “If I Could.” The Phish original features vocals from Alison Krauss, which Sierra handled, coming together with mandolinist Paul Hoffman to duet on the chorus. Hull stayed on for “Burn Them” which saw Hull and Hoffman trading licks on the mandolin. Greensky would go it alone on set closer “Grow Together.”

The second set got going with “Before Bring Out Your Dead” and “Bring Out Your Dead” ahead “In Control” and the title track to All For Money. Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade Of Love” came next followed by “All Four” and “I’d Probably Kill You,” which featured the famed Billy Strings lyric change. Billy hails from Muir, Michigan just down the road from Caledonia. Greensky would close out the set with their toggle between “Tapology” and “One Slip” ahead of an encore of the staple “Windshield” to bring the evening to a close.
