Greensky Bluegrass & Pink Talking Fish Honor Allen Toussaint

Earlier today we told you about Dead & Company working an Allen Toussaint song into their second set in Worcester, but the sextet wasn’t the only jam act to honor the late NOLA great last night. On the same day word of Toussaint’s passing spread, both Greensky Bluegrass and Pink Talking Fish worked a Toussaint song into their respective performances.

Greensky Bluegrass opened their second set at the Knitting Factory in Boise, Idaho with Toussaint’s “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley” on Tuesday night. Later in the evening, they worked a reprise into “Broke Mountain Breakdown.” You may recall another band that played “Sneakin’ Sally” twice on the same night.

Pink Talking Fish played a Dead & Company after-show last night at The Palladium in Worcester. The Phish/Talking Heads/Pink Floyd tribute act kicked off the show with “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley.” Later in the night, PTF was joined by vocalist Haley Jane on a mash-up of “Tennessee Jed” and “Ocelot” as well as “What A Day That Was.” Flowtribe Dancers helped the band end the evening with “Another Brick In The Wall” > “Franklin’s Tower” > “Another Brick In The Wall” > “Weekpaug Groove” > “Eclipse.”
