Greensky Bluegrass wrapped up a two-night run at The Anthem in Washington D.C. on Saturday. The quintet welcomed opener guitarist Daniel Donato for an Allman Brothers Band cover and more.
Greensky kicked off the first set with “Grow Together” off their latest album, 2022’s Stress Dreams. The band then dusted off the bluegrass standard “Pig In A Pen” for the first time in 63 shows, as per Phantasy Tour. “In Control” followed ahead of a cover of Joshua Davis’ “Last Winter In The Copper Country.” Guitarist Dave Bruzza then led the band through his “Letter To Seymour,” which proceeded “Get Out.”

GSBG then brought out Donato — who also sat in with the band recently in Pittsburgh — beginning on “Fo Sho, Uh Huh” which gave way to “Give A Shit” with Donato adding a little twang to the tune. Daniel stuck around to help Greensky close out the first frame with a cover of The Allman Brothers’ “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More.” Donato is a member of the ABB tribute . Mandolinist Paul Hoffman led the group through the Eat A Peach opener before dobroist Anders Beck and Donato swapped runs to bring the set to a close.
Greensky Bluegrass opened the second set with “Worry For You.” Second set highlights included “Kerosene,” “Like Reflections” and a bust out cover of Dawes’ “Quitter” for the first time since November 19, 2021 — a gap of 99 shows. GSBG closed the second set with “Don’t Lie” before returning to encore with “Monument.”
