Grateful Dead classic “Truckin’” is the latest preview of the band’s upcoming Meet-Up At The Movies event. The concert set for screening worldwide in November is GD’s April 17, 1972 concert at Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s historic Europe ’72 Tour.
The Grateful Dead — guitarists Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, drummer Bill Kreutzmann, keyboardists Ron “Pigpen” McKernan and Keith Godchaux, bassist Phil Lesh and vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux — returned to the Tivoli, after performing at the venue three nights before, to record an appearance for Danish television. Portions of the performance were beamed live marking the band’s first major live concert outing and Denmark’s first-ever live broadcast.
Fans can watch 90 minutes of fully restored footage from the show at the forthcoming Meet Up At The Movies 2022. Preview the screening with the Dead’s rollicking “Truckin’” from April 17, 1972 in Copenhagen below:
