The Dead’s May 14, 1974 performance went down at the Adams Field House in Missoula during the “Wall Of Sound” era in which the band toured with a massive and innovative sound system. In fact, the Missoula show was just the third the Dead played using the “Wall of Sound.” Among the highlights is a 22+ minute “Playing In The Band,” a “Weather Report Suite” > “Dark Star” for the ages and just the second performance of “Scarlet Begonias.”
Dave Pick’s Volume 9 isn’t due until early 2014. The band revealed details of the release as extra incentive to purchase a Dave’s Picks 2014 subscription package. In the announcement of the subscription package, Lemieux reveals we “can plan on something excellent from the 1969-1971 era, likely something you’ve never heard” as another of the four Dave’s Picks releases planned next year.
