Grace Potter revived her Grand Point North event after a five-year hiatus as a concert series she headlined this past weekend at Waterfront Park in Burlington, Vermont. Potter’s first of two shows came on Saturday, July 27 and saw her joined by former husband and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals founding drummer Matthew Burr at the end of her main set.
The Nocturnals faded away in 2014, a few years before Grace and Matthew separated and eventually divorced. Potter went on to launch a successful solo career. Grand Point North was founded as a festival in 2011 and held each year through 2019. This year’s installment was a four-day concert series held July 25 – 28 with Potter topping the bill on July 27 and 28. Grace donated proceeds from her sets to Vermont flood relief.

Grace Potter’s Saturday set at Grand Point North was an all-requests affair. Fans were able to put requests in before the show and Potter came through with a bevy of favorites from the Nocturnals days including both parts of “Nothing But The Water,” “Stop The Bus,” “Treat Me Right,” “Turntable” and “Ragged Company.” The Vermont native and her band — drummer Jordan West, bassist Kurtis Keber and guitarists Indya Bratton and Ricky Dover Jr. — also threw in “Good Time” and “Rose Colored Rearview” from 2023’s Mother Road and other solo gems as well as a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman.”
Matthew Burr emerged late in the frame and replaced West behind the kit for a three-song segment. Burr’s time on stage included a rendition of Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” and Grace Potter & The Nocturnals’ staples “Sugar” and “Delta/Put Your Head Down.”
