Gov’t Mule returned to the stage at their Island Exodus 2022 destination event on Tuesday at Jewel Paradise Cove in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. The quartet was once again joined by saxophonist Ron Holloway at various points of a night that also saw Gov’t Mule debut a cover of Savoy Brown’s “Street Corner Talking.”

Rain fell during Mule’s one-set performance a day after the band’s Monday night concert was canceled due to inclement weather. Warren Haynes and his bandmates got last night’s show underway with The Staple Singers’ “Hammer & Nails.” Gov’t Mule then played staples “Whisper In Your Soul,” “Larger Than Life” and “Temporary Saint.” Next up was the band’s first version of “Street Corner Talking,” the title track from Savoy Brown’s 1971 studio album.

Ron Holloway emerged after “Gordon James” for a take on Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City” that gave way to an improv dubbed “Pedestrian Jam” featuring elements of “Get Up, Stand Up” by Bob Marley. Danny Louis was on trumpet for a segment that also included “Reblow Your Horn” and a reggae-tinged cover of Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker.” Holloway contributed to the sequence as well as the ensuing “Soulshine.”

Gov’t Mule’s set rolled on after Holloway vacated the stage with the beloved “Thorazine Shuffle.” From there “Time To Confess” followed before the saxophonist returned to add to a set-closing cover of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Dreams.” Mule then started an extended encore with “Little Toy Brain” and “No Need To Suffer.” Next, Ron Holloway came back for a jam on “The Other One” that bled into “Hammer & Nails Reprise” to end the night.

Island Exodus continues today. Watch fan-shot video footage from last night’s show below:
