The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland hosted a Gov’t Mule performance on Tuesday night. The European Tour stop was capped with the band offering a debut cover of a classic Frankie Miller song.

Frontman Warren Haynes guided the band through a first set opening take on Son House’s “Grinnin’ In Your Face.” Set one went on to mix songs from the group’s recently issued LP Revolution Come…Revolution Go such as “Burning Point” and “Pressure Under Fire” with favorites like “Bad Little Doggie,” “Mr. High & Mighty,” Billy Cobham’s “Stratus” and the closer “Slackjaw Jezebel.”

“Traveling Tune,” from the new record, opened the second set followed by “Forsaken Savior,” “Time To Confess,” a cover of “Need Your Love So Bad” and the album’s title track. Setlist staple “Birth Of The Mule” led to a cover of Al Green’s “I’m A Ram” and a set closing take on Blind Willie Johnson’s “Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground.”

Tuesday’s encore began with a rendition of Mule’s “Dreams & Songs.” Next came a tribute to local musician Frankie Miller in the form of the band’s first time playing the acclaimed Scottish rocker’s track “Ain’t Got No Money” from his 1975 LP The Rock.

Gov’t Mule’s European Tour continues tomorrow night in Manchester, England at the O2 Ritz. Watch audience-shot footage of “Traveling Tune” from last night captured by Graeme Thomson below:
