Watch Pavement Play ‘Greenlander’ For 1st Time Since 1992 In Cleveland

Pavement shocked and awed fans Thursday by dusting off “Greenlander” during their concert at Cleveland’s Agora. The outtake from the band’s Slanted & Enchanted album hadn’t been performed since December of 1992, a 34-year span.

Slanted & Enchanted, the band’s debut studio album, was released in 1992. The version of “Greenlander” Pavement laid down during a studio session the same year first saw the light of day in 2002 on the Slanted & Enchanted: Luxe & Reduxe deluxe reissue.

The Cleveland show was the sixth stop of Pavement’s 2026 Summer Tour. “Greenlander” was unfurled late in the main set. While the band last performed the song over three decades prior, frontman Stephen Malkmus resurrected “Greenlander” at a pair of solo concerts in 2025.

Pavement will perform at Philadelphia’s Dell Music Center tonight as part of the Make The World Better Concert Weekend. Malkmus and his bandmates follow with a gig in Richmond on Saturday and two shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to close the tour on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28.
