Goose unveiled a 75-minute in-studio performance dubbed “Chateau Sessions Pt. 1” with another installment due next week. The set features the updated lineup featuring new drummer Cotter Ellis performing four songs as well as a +30-minute jam.
The initial “Chateau Sessions” video arrived on YouTube last night just hours after the quintet announced its existence. Goose previously showed off Ellis’ handiwork on the Ted Tapes 2024 compilation of improvised jams. Ellis joined Goose last month following the departure of founding drummer Ben Atkind in December 2023.

Goose — Cotter Ellis, guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Arevalo — kicks off the first part of “Chateau Sessions” with the two-year old original “Atlas Dogs.” The five-piece then delivers an impressive version of Dripfield track “Borne” before embarking on a lengthy improvisation in which they explore various soundscapes.
“Chateau Sessions Pt. 1” ends with a sequence featuring a pair of live staples known for birthing stellar jams: “Wysteria Lane” and “Madhuvan.” Both are standout takes on classic songs. Ellis powers “Wysteria Lane” with a bombastic beat, while “Madhuvan” contains a gorgeous bliss jam.
