All had been quiet from the Goose camp since late last month when the band announced the departure of drummer Ben Atkind. The silence was broken over the past two days as the group posted a pair of mysterious audio samples on their socials along with an Instagram story hinting at an announcement on February 6.

The exciting audio snippets shared by the band were not accompanied by any captions. The only text, “2.6.24,” came in the IG story. It remains to be seen who guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz and percussionist Jeff Arevalo recruited as their new drummer. Atkind was behind the kit for Goose from their formation in 2014 through Goosemas 2023 on December 8 and 9 at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia.

Both clips are short and seem to be pulled from studio jams. Mitarotonda lets it rip on each and the drumming is strong. Weekz helps guide the improvisation while Anspach moves from piano to organ in the first and focuses on electric piano tones in the second. Psychedelic imagery was paired with the audio in the cryptic posts.
