Goose celebrated the release of Everything Must Go by returning to CBS Saturday Morning. The jam quartet performed three songs from the new album for the program’s “Saturday Sessions” series and chatted with journalist Anthony Mason at their studio in suburban Connecticut.
Everything Must Go, which arrived on Friday, marks Goose’s fourth studio LP and first since 2022’s Dripfield. The band previously made their television debut on CBS Saturday Morning one day after Dripfield was released.
Goose — guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, bassist Trevor Weekz, multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach and drummer Cotter Ellis — talked to Mason about the massive surge in popularity they experienced starting in 2020. The four members of the band also discussed creating a world with their music and the chemistry they experienced when Ellis joined Goose.
The recent departure of percussionist Jeff Arevalo was touched upon by Mason. “It all kind of happened very fast. We had maybe two days of something before we knew we were just going out on the road as a four-piece,” Anspach explained. “It ended up being great, we really bonded,” he added. When asked whether they anticipate staying as a quartet, they answered “certainly for now.”
Goose performed Everything Must Go standouts “Your Direction” and “Give It Time” for their latest television appearance. Fellow single “Thatch” rounded out the group’s “Saturday Sessions” set and while not televised, CBS shared footage of the performance as an online exclusive.

Goose rolled out an animated video for Everything Must Go’s title track on Friday. The band enlisted Chris Hopewell (Radiohead, The Killers, Run The Jewels) to direct and design the visual.
“I wanted to capture the feeling of hope within the track Everything Must Go’” noted Hopewell, “a feeling of elevation and that something good is about to happen. Like all good tales, our narrative follows an unlikely hero with little agency who must overcome overwhelming odds to reach their goal, but with hope, determination, and a little luck, they may just win through. We follow our character through an apocalyptic vision of our future world – she is seemingly the only living thing in this blasted, toxic wasteland. As the tale unfolds, she is forced to make the ultimate decision: self-survival or self-sacrifice. The message is a simple one – that against all odds, the acts of the individual, no matter how small or powerless, can make a difference.”
