Gillian Welch and David Rawlings Grateful Dead Acoustic Reckoning Tour dates, honoring the 45th anniversary of Grateful Dead's live album, Reckoning. The duo will play a string of special shows in April and then bring the celebratory performance to the 2026 Newport Folk Festival.

“The Grateful Dead flirted with acoustic music throughout their career, until they released their Reckoning album, 45 years ago,” Welch and Rawlings shared. “We have flirted with Grateful Dead music throughout our career, until this anniversary was suggested as a good reason to book these shows. We know the Dead’s music is a mountain, and we’re hoping to start up from base camp this Spring in celebration of their legacy.”

In 2024, Welch and Rawlings covered the Grateful Dead after the death of the band’s co-founding bassist Phil Lesh. Welch commented fondly on a photo from 2006, when she shared the stage with Lesh’s bandmate Bob Weir, following his death last month.

A longtime Deadhead whose first show was in January 1987, Welch’s decorated envelope sent to obtain mail-order tickets to a Grateful Dead New Year’s Eve concert resides in the Grateful Dead Archive.

Gillian Welch & David Rawlings’ Grateful Dead Acoustic Reckoning Tour begins with three nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on April 9, 10 and 11. The run continues with two shows at The Fox Theater in Oakland on April 17 and 18, followed by a performance at Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on April 23. The Newport Folk Festival appearance takes place in Newport, Rhode Island on July 25.

Presale tickets to the April concerts go on sale Tuesday, February 10 at 10 a.m. local time (code: WOODLAND). Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 13.
