Full Show Audio & Videos: Tedeschi Trucks Band Welcomes Hot Tuna & Wood Brothers In Vienna

The fourth stop of this year’s Wheels Of Soul Tour took place on Wednesday night at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. While the first three shows of the run didn’t feature any sit-ins, all three acts collaborated on Wednesday as the Tedeschi Trucks Band shared the stage with members of Hot Tuna and The Wood Brothers.
Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi have been keeping the rotation for their setlists much smaller than usual as keyboardist Carey Frank keeps Kofi Burbridge’s seat warm. Burbridge is recovering from major heart surgery. However, slowly but surely the TTB are starting to add a few tunes to the repertoire for the tour.
After sets from Hot Tuna and The Wood Brothers, The Tedeschi Trucks Band opened Wednesday’s headlining set in Vienna with “I Want More.” The TTB then ripped through “Do I Look Worried,” “Midnight In Harlem,” “Don’t Know What It Means” and “Get What You Deserve” before treating fans to a rendition of the blues classic “How Blue Can You Get.” Up next was the recently revived cover of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?” followed by the TTB gem “Bound For Glory.”
The set continued with the Tedeschi Trucks Band bringing up Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady for “Key To The Highway.” From there, the 12-piece brought the set to a close with a soulful “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free” as well as a fiery one-two punch of “The Storm” > “Whipping Post.” Tedeschi and Frank began the encore with a duet on Leon Russell’s “A Song For You.” For the evening’s finale, the TTB was joined by Oliver Wood, Chris Wood and Jano Rix of The Wood Brothers for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere.” Check out audio and video below.
