A new supergroup dubbed The New Stew is in the middle of a week-long tour in which the all-star collective is performing the classic album Bill Withers – Live At Carnegie Hall in its entirety. The new band features Corey Glover, Roosevelt Collier, Yonrico Scott, Dave Yoke, Jared Stone and Matt Slocum. A crispy soundboard matrix recording of The New Stew’s recent visit to Brooklyn Bowl in New York City has surfaced for our listening pleasure.

With Glover (Living Colour, Galactic) on vocals, Collier (The Lee Boys) on lap steel/pedal steel, Scott (Derek Trucks Band, Royal Southern Brotherhood) on percussion, Yoke (Susan Tedeschi Band, Dr. John, Scrapomatic) on guitar, Stone (Stone’s Stew) on drums and Slocum (Oteil & The Peacemakers, Col. Bruce Hampton & Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Lee Boys) on piano the collective rolled through each and every track of Withers’ famed 1973 album. Most of Bill’s big hits are included such as “Use Me,” “Grandma’s Hands,” “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Lean On Me.” The tour concludes with performances in Asheville tonight and Atlanta tomorrow.
