Full Show Audio: Brock Butler Goes Solo Acoustic In Charleston
Perpetual Groove frontman Brock Butler is a human jukebox of sorts with a repertoire for his solo acoustic shows that numbers in the hundreds of songs. On Tuesday night Butler showed off the diversity of said repertoire during a performance at Bar Mash in Charleston, South Carolina. A crispy recording of the three set performance recently surfaced and can be streamed below.
Butler selects songs from nearly every era and corner of the rock world. In the first set alone Brock mixed tunes from Colin Hay, Tom Petty, John Prine, Eels, Daniel Johnston, The Tallest Man On Earth and Alison Krauss. The second set featured rare takes on the Grateful Dead’s “Black Muddy River,” DMB’s “Christmas Song” and “Different Days” by Jason Isbell. Brock begins the third set with an extended visit to “Graceland” (Paul Simon) in which he shows off his genius looping. There’s also PGroove originals “Walking In Place” and “Three Weeks” and many more including a tribute to Leonard Cohen.
Perpetual Groove ends 2016 with shows at Atlanta’s Terminal West December 29 – 31.
