Full Set Video: Widespread Panic Plays At Vegoose In Las Vegas In 2006

In 2005 and again in 2006, Widespread Panic held their annual Halloween celebrations in Las Vegas. Earlier today the group announced they will return to Sin City for this year’s run of show surrounding Halloween. For Full Show Friday, here’s a look back at the WSP performance held in Las Vegas at the 2006 Vegoose festival.

Panic was among the headliners who performed at Star Nursery Field at Sam Boyd Stadium on October 29, 2006. WSP moved over to the MGM Grand in Vegas the following night but didn’t hold a show on Halloween in 2006. Their Vegoose appearance featured one long set loaded with staples from the band’s extensive repertoire.

The regularly covered Jerry Joseph rocker “Climb To Safety” opened Widespread Panic’s 20-song Vegoose set. John Keane was often on stage during the performance, switching from guitar to pedal steel alongside fellow guitarists John Bell and Jimmy Herring, bassist Dave Schools, keyboardist John “JoJo” Hermann, , drummer Todd Nance and percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Oritz. He added pedal steel guitar to “From The Cradle,” “Blue Indian,” “Barstools And Dreamers” and “Papa’s Home” and provided guitar on “Pigeons,” “Solid Rock,” “Porch Song” and a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing,” which had just been busted out by WSP earlier in the month following a 17 year absence.

Panic capped the set with an encore of “Ain’t Life Grand” also featuring Keane’s added guitar. Watch (almost) the full set from Vegas in 2006 below:
