New Orleans funk outfit Dumpstaphunk presented an “Earth, War & Power” set this past Thursday night at the Wanee Music Festival in Live Oak, Florida. An audience recording of the performance, which found Dumpstaphunk joined by backing vocalists and a horn section, has recently surfaced.
Ivan Neville & Co. mixed originals with covers of material from Earth, Wind & Fire, War and Tower Of Power over the course of two hours at The Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida on the first day of this year’s Wanee Music Festival. The band started with a handful of recently debuted originals before paying tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire with performances of “Mighty Mighty,” “Shining Star,” “Can’t Hide Love,” “On Your Face” and “Yearnin’ Learnin’.” It was then onto War covers with “Cisco Kid,” “The World Is A Ghetto,” “Slippin’ Into Darkness” and “Me & My Baby Brother.” The set came to a close with renditions of Tower Of Power classics “On The Serious Side,” “What Is Hip,” “(To Say The Least) You’re The Most” and “Soul Vaccination.” Listen to audio of the set below.
